The Ponds School opened in 2012 in a temporary location in Riverstone. It's a school for kids with intellectual disabilities, and many of them have other disabilities too, like autism, physical disabilities, or emotional problems. The school started with just 4 kindergarten classes, but it's grown a lot since then and now has 19 classes with kids from kindergarten to year 12. In 2015, the school moved to a brand new building in The Ponds suburb. The new school has really cool stuff like state-of-the-art technology, a special pool for hydrotherapy, and playground equipment that's designed for kids with disabilities. The teachers at The Ponds School use the same lessons and curriculum as other schools in NSW, but they change them a bit to fit each student's needs. They also use special technology to help kids learn. The school thinks it's important for kids to have strong relationships with their community and families, and they work with a charity called Making It Happen - for children with disabilities Inc. to raise money for the school.
