The Quarter Project is a non-profit organization focused on closing the wage gap in the workplace for females in Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM), professions by providing STEM classes to school-age girls through the GEMS program. The Quarter Project was founded in 2015 to address the lack of opportunities for females in STEM. The focus is to promote and engage girls, especially those at risk of not receiving these educational opportunities, in extracurricular STEM classes from an early age. The Quarter Project sponsors a program called GEMS - girls in engineering, math and science. GEMS classes have included engineering, aeronautics, solar, mechanics, biochemistry, chemistry, CSI, vet med and many others. Success in STEM, as in all areas, begins a feeling of capability and confidence. GEMS classes give girls a feeling of accomplishment around STEM subjects and increase the likelihood that they will enter and excel in STEM fields.
