The Queer African Youth Networking Center is a lesbian-led international organization registered in California, USA, but working on sexual minorities issues in Central and West Africa. Formed in 2010 to bring visibility to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and questioning African youth, QAYN fosters solidarity, reflection, debates and activism among LGBTQI youth in Africa. Currently, QAYN works in Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Cameroon. VisionAt the Queer African Youth Networking Center, we envision communities across Africa where out and questioning queer youth are free to openly explore their sexual orientation and gender identity in a safe and supportive environment. QAYN-Center sees a future in which the basic human rights of LGBTQI African youth are respected and promoted.MissionThe Queer African Youth Networking Center works to establish a wide network of support to promote the safety and well-being of gays, lesbians, bisexual, transgender, intersex and questioning West African youth.ObjectivesTo foster communities understanding of sexual minorities that promotes tolerance and respect of gender expression;To establish a strong network of support including civil society, parents and youth to bring LGBTQI issues into broader human rights struggle;To develop comprehensive training programs to empower youth to be responsible leaders committed to bringing social change in their communities.
