The Rabbit Sanctuary Details

The Rabbit Sanctuary was founded in 2008 by Kim Cooney & her late husband, Jim. They became aware of the problems facing abandoned rabbits due to QLD's strict prohibition laws.Teaming up with the RSCPA & AWL in QLD, they entered into an agreement that would see them rescue all rabbits from both organisations. The Rabbit Rescue Sanctuary was established to help unwanted rabbits or rabbits and their owners that need long term or short term help. It is set in a beautiful bushland setting in Northern NSW Australia. It is a no kill shelter. Rabbits at the Rabbit Sanctuary are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and receive veterinary care. They are fed premium rabbit pellets, hays and fresh picked grasses. Some rabbits may be available to suitable homes with our advice and ongoing support. People can bring their rabbits to the shelter to live if they can't keep them for any reason. The Rabbit Sanctuary is sponsored by The Pet Directory, Oxbow, and over 20 veterinary practices in major locations. It relies on donations and fundraising to continue the rabbit rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming.

The Rabbit Sanctuary, located in Rushforth, Australia, is a no-kill shelter dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abandoned rabbits. Founded in 2008 by Kim Cooney and her late husband Jim, the sanctuary has teamed up with the RSPCA and AWL in QLD to provide a safe haven for rabbits in need. The sanctuary is set in a beautiful bushland setting in Northern NSW and provides a safe and nurturing environment for the rabbits. The sanctuary relies on donations and fundraising to continue its mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming rabbits. They are sponsored by The Pet Directory, Oxbow, and over 20 veterinary practices in major locations. The rabbits at the sanctuary are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and receive premium rabbit pellets, hays, and fresh picked grasses. Some rabbits may be available for adoption to suitable homes with ongoing support and advice from the sanctuary. The Rabbit Sanctuary is a vital resource for rabbits and their owners in need, providing a safe and loving home for these beloved animals.

In 2008, Kim Cooney and her husband Jim started a place to help rabbits. They wanted to help because in Queensland, it was against the law to have pet rabbits. Kim and Jim worked with other animal groups and made a plan to save rabbits from shelters. They created a safe place for rabbits called the Rabbit Sanctuary. It's in a beautiful area in Northern New South Wales, Australia. They don't kill any rabbits there. They take care of the rabbits, make sure they're healthy, and give them good food. Sometimes, they let people adopt rabbits if they promise to take good care of them. People can also bring their rabbits to live at the sanctuary if they can't keep them. The sanctuary gets help from other groups and people who donate money. They need money to keep helping rabbits.
