Music - Stanford, California, United States
The Red Couch Project is an initiative that aims to provide a uniquely personal music experience to artists, producers, filmographers, and audiences. Entirely managed and produced by Stanford students, TRCP promotes independent music to the student body and world at large while providing hands-on experience in music production.TRCP is an opportunity for independent musicians to perform in an intimate, informal setting. We invite musicians to play short sets as a means of promoting their work and providing student audiences with a personal and accessible musical experience. We encourage casual discourse and allow audiences to form a connection with the artists and crew. Each concert is recorded and published online with artist profiles and information about their music. TRCP utilizes mass media to publicize upcoming artists while simultaneously preserving the intimacy of a living room concert. In addition to simply promoting the music of rising artists, TRCP increases transparency of the musical process by involving students in the post-production. Our crew and management team are entirely composed of Stanford students, making it more accessible to musicians and audiences alike. Each video is filmed, directed, and edited by our student camera and film team; likewise, students are responsible for our publicity and web design. TRCP is an opportunity for students to apply their individual talents and creativity towards a common goal.
