The Red Curtain believes that theater is good for the soul. In a world challenged with many difficulties, theater offers imaginative solutions. We've been doing theatre in English in Calcutta since 1969.During the pandemic, we discovered that we could st@ge plays all over the world. Actors and audiences could share the same time and space. The performances could be live. And a new world of the@ter patrons and performers opened up.We ended up raising more money, for the causes we supported, in three months of the pandemic than we had done in three years of performances in Kolkata.Yes, Calcutta had changed to Kolkata a long time ago and we chose to change the spelling of theatre to the@ter for two reasons. One, to indicate that in this new genre, technology was a huge enabler. Two, because many of The Red Curtain's original founder members were now in the USA and Paul Lopez got ourselves registered in Georgia, USA so that there was less loss in transferring money to the intended recipients of the donations. We also discovered that there were many others across the world who were performing live, digitally. So we held The Good The@ter Festival & Awards, online, in November 2020.And that's given rise to The Good The@ter Family.People who love theater. Because it's good for the soul.Come join us, if you believe that is so.
