Nonprofit Organization Management - Atlanta, Georgia, United States
The River was formed in 2015, and has as its mission to transform the way that we view and respond to homelessness in Atlanta. We are named The River because we must help those who have fallen into "the river" of homelessness by meeting their immediate needs, and, we must work upstream on "the river" to remove the underlying causes of homelessness. In addition to meeting the immediate needs of those who are experiencing homelessness, we collaborate with highly competent community partners who are experts in housing, employment solutions, criminal justice, and addiction and mental health needs for Atlanta's homeless. Plus, we join economic and political advocacy action that reduces the systemic causes of homelessness in our communities. We see our work as something that demands change and outcomes from our partners, as well as our friends experiencing homelessness. To that end, we will collaborate with organizations that share our goals, and can demonstrate and deliver agreed upon outcomes. We are a program of Virginia-Highland Church, and are committed to building trusting and mutual relationships with those we serve, and those with whom we partner.
