Civic & Social Organization - Detroit, Michigan, United States
The Rotary Club of Detroit was founded in 1910, club number 16 of what has grown to be more than 35,000 Rotary clubs worldwide. It was the first Rotary club in Michigan, preceding hundreds of Rotary clubs in neighboring Indiana, Ohio and Ontario. Thousands of members comprised of leaders of Detroit's businesses and professions have belonged, providing service to Detroit and the world through hands-on projects and contributions of millions of dollars. Notable historic members include Edward Hines, Frank Campbell, Henry Ewald, Edgar Guest, Frank Cody, Stanley Kresge and others. We welcome new members. We especially seek current or former leaders of businesses and the professions who would enjoy our friendship and that of other Rotarians nearby and around the world; who live in, work in, or place a high value in the city of Detroit; who share the service and integrity values of Rotary and want to help make Detroit and the world better. Membership is by invitation, with members proposing acquaintances. If you are acquainted with any of our members, ask them for more information about Rotary and let them know of your membership interest. If you are not acquainted with any members, contact us, and one of our officers or members of the Membership Committee will reply promptly. We urge you to join any of our upcoming meetings to learn more about our club and us.
