The Safe House Bed & Breakfast is located at the historic Samuel Lewis House which can be found on the National Register of Historic Places. Established in 1837, our home has been described as "the best preserved sandstone house in Richland County from the Pre-Antebellum period." The property was part of the Underground Railroad and, at one point, had an underground tunnel connecting it to the stone house across the road. Our B and B boasts a very generous common space inside the house. The library, the kitchen, the dining room and the living room are all nearly exclusively used by B and B guests. In fact, other than the kitchen, our family rarely even uses any of these rooms. We encourage guests to kick back and watch a movie on our living room TV. Or grab a board game from us and play it on our dining room table. Or perhaps we can arrange to build you a fire so you can relax in front of a warm fireplace. As for our outdoor areas, guests are invited to stroll around our 10.5 acres of mostly-wooded land complete with a stream. We have a handful of lawn chairs and benches around the grounds. You can also relax in our hammock which is suspended between two trees next to a flowing fountain. At night, the hammock is lit up by string lights. We also offer use of our 30 foot pool and deck to our guests, so bring your swimsuits.
