The Second Hanging was developed by a group of art professionals and art collectors to provide a safe, efficient and interesting methodology for bringing outstanding works of art to a wider audience. Our goal is to help art lovers discover and obtain paintings, sculptures, photography and lithography that they might not have access to through normal channels.As artists and collectors ourselves, we understand that sometimes, for a variety of reasons, collectors want to sell artworks they no longer wish to own. At the same time, visual artists see the potential for a safe, reliable vehicle for the sale of original works in the primary market; that is how The First Frame @ The Second Hanging came about. In addition, artists suggested The Empty Room, a moving venue for a variety of art events which we or participating artists will determine and implement. And we welcome galleries who wish to expand the universe in which they present their artists.Hopefully, this will become an exciting portal and venue for everyone in the art community, including artists, collectors and dealers. Here are some important points: 1) We will not interfere with any artist/gallery relationships. In fact, we hope that galleries will discover artists they don't know.2) There are no listing fees for artists. If we succeed in selling one of your works, we'll charge a 20% commission.3) If you're a collector, we charge you a one-time fee of either $50 or $100 to list your artwork, depending upon the value of the piece. Once the piece sells, we'll charge a 20% commission and deduct from our fee the listing charge you've already paid to us.4) If you're a gallery, there is no listing fee. Once the piece sells, we'll charge a 20% commission.So whether you're a collector, painter, sculptor, illustrator, photographe or gallery, The Second Hanging would like to invite you to join us.
