Shaffer Company is a tenant-only commercial real estate brokerage firm serving small and mid-sized companies in Greater Boston.Unlike traditional "full service" brokers, we only represent tenants. Focusing on the users of space--rather than the owners of space--avoids the conflict of interest that "full service" brokers embrace when they represent both landlords and tenants…often in the same transaction.--An experienced corporate real estate advisor, I'm a graduate of Georgetown Law School. My legal training gives me a unique perspective on the process of structuring deals and negotiating lease agreements for my clients. --After earning my law degree, I spent almost 20 years at CB Richard Ellis and at Jones Lang LaSalle, two of the world's largest full-service real estate firms. I advised some of the nation's most demanding and sophisticated users of corporate space, including Dell Computer, Allstate Insurance, Dean Witter, Eli Lilly, Ford Motor Company, and Goodyear Tire & Rubber.--In 2001, I formed The Shaffer Company, a tenant-representation practice designed to take the skills developed serving Fortune 1000 companies and bring them to the local Boston marketplace, focused on small and mid-sized firms--My practice is strictly devoted to representing companies, acting as a tenant representative. I don't take listings. I don't represent landlords. I don't hope for future business from landlords. I simply represent tenants. Focusing on the users of space, rather than the owners of space, avoids the conflict of interest that "full service" brokers embrace when they represent both landlords and tenants…often in the same transaction. --I'm a sole practitioner. Nothing is passed to a junior broker. I conduct every showing, prepare every proposal, negotiate every agreement, run every number, and review every word of every document.
