In 1995, Charles Phan and his family opened a small 45-seat restaurant in the Mission district in San Francisco with a focus on quality Vietnamese street food in a modern setting. With Phan innovative design and bold flavors, The Slanted Door was quickly recognized locally and nationally within 3 months of opening. The Slanted Door moved its flagship location to the Ferry Building in 2004.Charles continued to open other restaurants including Out the Door, OTD, Hard Water, Rice and Bones, Slanted Door San Ramon, and, coming soon, Slanted Door Las Vegas.
