ABOUT iGASThe South African Gas Development Company, also known as iGas, is a subsidiary of the Central Energy Fund (CEF) Group and was formed as per Ministerial Directive issued on the 2nd of October 2000. The mandate of iGas as an official State Agency are as follows:•Act as official State Agency for the development of the hydrocarbons gas industry in Southern Africa;•Advance the energy goals set out in the White Paper on Energy Policy, specifically promote the diversification of energy usage into hydrocarbon gas and may assist in ventures which facilitate the usage of hydrocarbon gas in South Africa;•Where investments are made outside South Africa, iGas should prefer investments in SADC and African countries targeted by South Africa for the development of bi-lateral relations, all other things equal;The Directive empower iGas to:•Own, invest in, construct and/or operate hydrocarbon gas transmission pipelines and hydrocarbon gas storage facilities;•Conduct research into and finance in projects with a view to the diversification of energy usage to include hydrocarbon gas.
