The Stateless Collective Details
The Stateless Collective was created by a group of university students that saw a gap in student preparedness while researching abroad. Students were stepping into high risk communities, finding themselves underprepared for complex situations, and often miseducating themselves on the community's issues. More importantly, we found that students were also putting people in danger of reawakening traumatic experiences and endangering their holistic well-being. As students ourselves, we saw that online courses, mixed with discussion boards and in-person reflection, would allow equitable access to a toolbox of problem solving skills. Not only do these skills help students abroad, but they also prepare students to return home to their local communities. As researchers and students, we know there is a desire to be culturally aware and a pro-social globally engaged citizen.
