Food Drink Art. The Sun and Doves is a contemporary local cafe/bar/restaurant (also known as a pub) serving a wide variety of good quality food and drink in surroundings which are conducive to enjoying the fruits of human creativity and art.Most of the furniture is either second hand, made locally, or we made it ourselves. We got a lot of it from boot fairs and junk shops but none of it is junk. But it's is very low environmental impact. We try to make the whole business reflect what's important in contemporary life and relevant to people who use us. We take in customers' domestic batteries and unwanted CDs for recycling, take in parcels for customers when they aren't at home, act as a holding service for key exchange, all sorts of stuff for people who use the business. We do exhibitions, quizzes, wine tastings and other stuff that engages the local community.We are also screwed because the pub is tied to Scottish & Newcastle and we don't make any profit.
