After the program, Fellows also have the opportunity to pursue a political or NGO based internship. The Fellowship is a free program for all successful applicants, this includes international and interstate tours. The vision of the Susan Wakil Fellowship is to continue the story of Jewish contribution to society, with a focus on the student and campus community. The Fellowship intends to empower a new generation of leaders with this sense of civic duty and the resources necessary to deliver a meaningful contribution to their communities and campuses. The Fellowship has helped connect the many nodes of active organisations, communities and clubs who are interested in similar pursuits – facilitating a productive exchange of ideas and networks to improve student life. The Fellowship is an initiative of the Australiasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS) and is made possible by a generation donation from the Susan and Isaac Wakil Foundation, a philanthropic organisation with a long history of donations to educational programs for disadvantaged communities, nursing training institutions and to the arts.
