The mission of The Tai Initiative is to nurture and educate the network of organizational and personal relationships between Americans and Chinese to achieve mutual understanding, communication, and trust. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that encourages the development of trusting communication through relationships and skills of leaders at the sub-national level. The sub-national level comprises that segment of the relationship formed by the myriad state/province, city/town, university/school, commerce/business and other non-national institutions. We perform our mission by implementing a three-fold strategy of:1) networking subnational leaders together, 2) teaching ethical leadership behaviors and skills3) promoting civil dialogue on the nature of civilizationThe Tai Initiative collects "best lessons" through research and distributes these lessons through online/offline lectures, seminars, and travel programs. Every program contains an element or theme of improving participants' leadership potential. Our current flagship program is the China Cabinet. What motivates us? We share a vision of Chinese and American local-level policymakers and leaders leading the way forward by cooperating in the design and delivery of practical solutions elevating human dignity and economic development while reducing hunger, disease, and insecurity for the international community. Our two great civilizations – one ancient, one new – possess the opportunity to change world history by working together to overcome many of the world's pressing environmental, economic and social challenges. Please join us in this work!
