Education Management - Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
The UPR Project provides evidence-based teaching workshops, educational consulting and professional development for teachers, leaders and educators throughout Victoria and beyond. The methods delivered by The UPR Project, including behavioural management strategies, were developed alongside Brendan Murray, the founding Executive Principal of Parkville College, a Victorian Government School for all children and young people detained in custody in Victoria.Using our experience teaching in juvenile detention centres with some of the most vulnerable, traumatised and challenging students in the state, we know how to help educators build positive relationships with difficult students in order to deliver more positive and fulfilling educational experiences. Not only did the students of Parkville College choose to attend schooling in prison on their own volition, but they were also highly engaged and academically successful in their education.OUR MISSION:To empower educators by giving them the tools to manage difficult and disruptive behaviour so that no child is left behind.WHY?60% of children in the Victorian Youth Justice System have been suspended or excluded from schools and 90% of adults in prison in Victoria did not complete secondary school. We need to improve those numbers and we CAN improve those numbers. We as teachers, educators and leaders of schools are the solution to more positive and fulfilling outcomes for students and the drivers towards a better and more inclusive society. It starts by keeping our kids in schools.
