The Boehm Birth Defects Center is a non-profit organization located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. For over 50 years, we have embraced our mission to enhance the lives of children born with neural tube defects, such as spina bifida (open spine) and hydrocephalus (water on the brain). We provide medical, financial and psycho-social support to these patients and their families. Our program currently serves over 740 patients of all races and socioeconomic backgrounds across the Southeast. Our primary services include:•Free weekly neurosurgery clinics and monthly pediatric urology clinics (by appointment only)•Educational materials, including pamphlets, books and other publications regarding the diagnosis, as well as a list of other community resources•Financial assistance for hospitalizations, out-patient visits, diagnostic procedures and durable medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, leg braces and eyeglasses, related to the diagnosis.•Transportation assistance: gas cards for patients who live over 30 miles from Chattanooga •Medical supplies: items used in the clinical setting, such as suture removal trays, syringes, urinary catheters, etc. •Meal vouchers for parents during child's hospitalization•Family emergency assistance for utilities, etc. •Grants to clients for special needs camp programs www.boehmbdc.com • 975 E. 3rd Street • Chattanooga, TN 37403 • (423) 778-2222
