The Water Boys were formed in the summer of 2008 as the first a cappella group at UW. This auditioned, an all-male band of brothers sings a variety of music, ranging from oldies to current chart-toppers. The Water Boys focus on musical excellence in all they do and enjoy singing, performing, and having fun together. They've travelled to the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, and 2017! The Water Boys placed 2nd at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella 2017 Central Quarterfinal in Potsdam, New York. Then placed 1st at the ICCA 2017 Central Semifinal in Buffalo, New York and advanced to the ICCA 2017 Final as one of the finalists.The Water Boys runs under the UW A Cappella Club with other A Cappella groups at the University of Waterloo. The UW A Cappella Club is Canada's largest University A Cappella organization, with upwards of 200 members over the course of a year and 5 different permanent a cappella groups to join.Founded in 2010, UWACC exists in order to support the existence, growth, and development of the A Cappella groups, and foster the development of A Cappella at the University of Waterloo. They put on concerts at the end of each school term, featuring each of the main groups. The UW A Cappella Club is an organization under the University of Waterloo's Federation of Students. The Club is run entirely by volunteers, devoting their time and expertise to creating high-quality a cappella musical experiences for the UWaterloo community.
