The Water Trade and Power (Lesotho) Ltd (the "Company") is building an integrated company that will develop and generate electricity from 30MW up to 150MW in the form of Siemens Small Hydro Solution Sipocon-H that is remotely monitored and can be easily connected to the national grid. The aim of its first pilot project is to develop a sustainable revenue stream for the communities in Lesotho through the development of a 30MW Small hydro-power scheme at Maletusunyane River. It is planned to be the first pilot project that will implement Consumer Stock Ownership Plan Scheme in African continent. The Water Trade and Power Energy-CSOP will enable many Basotho to become (co-) owners of The Water Trade and Power 30MW Small hydro-power scheme at Maletusunyane River (productive assets), providing a second source of income and access to energy. Turning Lesotho consumers into prosumers through community financing techniques gives an option between self-consumption and sale to the grid. This is particularly important for poor people in Lesotho with scarce income that live in remote areas.
