Theatre 1880 was formed in 2015 by a group of creative professionals who first met while working as 'front of house' theatre staff. We create innovative and though-provoking work of the most exceptional standards and quality – breaking down barriers, evoking emotion, and above all, communicating ideas and stories clearly and sincerely. We are a collaborative, supportive network for every single person, in which experimenting and taking risks is encouraged. Building from the ground-up - we are resourceful company and place importance on the sustainability of our creative practices. We place a specific emphasis on the artist. It is important for us to offer opportunities, allowing those from all disciplines to continually develop and hone their skills by facilitating productions of their work. We are proud to act as a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents and let their voices be heard. Our passion, is providing audiences with an artistic experience – from first interaction, to arriving at the venue, from curtain up, to the drink in the bar afterwards. Theatre is, at its core, a social activity combined with a deeply personal experience and we value the importance of this.
