Thelma Biotel AS i a company located in Trondheim, the technology capital of Norway. We develop and produce acoustic telemetry solutions and wireless sensor systems for biological research and various other underwater monitoring tasks. Our technology is based on over 30 years of experience and development in close relationship with the university NTNU and research group SINTEF. Our core competence is ultra low power electronics and acoustic communication. The main market is fisheries science and ecology research where our acoustic telemetry systems is used to obtain records of fish movements and behaviour. It can be done actively, in real-time, or passively, using a network of listening stations. We are the leading actor in this market when it comes to deploying sensor systems and sensor integration with our products. The combination of sensors and low-cost, wireless, underwater communication also provides us with the technology basis we utilize in other markets, like structural monitoring and documentation of oceanographic instrumentation deployments.
