The Underground serves as a melting pot for the independent rock music industry in India, standing out as a platform for discussion, debate and discourse on everything indie, be it the number of shaggy beards in an audience, or sophisticated recording nuances. There's a significant counter-culture rock/metal movement brewing in India, threatening to put underground India on the map, as we witness international promoters, artists and audiences alike starting to look at Indian bands with awe, respect and admiration. We provide a platform for indie musicians and patrons of this promising ‘scene' to converse and interact. Through our dedicated team of experienced writers and correspondents, we aim to bring forth iconoclastic views on the state of rock music in India, highlighting those who deserve to be heard and seen, and pointing out ways to consolidate on the large strides already being taken. Freedom of speech is a precious commodity in today's world of political correctness, but we aim to transcend the fickle by delivering honest, opinionated, informed and relevant content – be it general news, gig, album, or gear reviews, interviews and features on bands both obscure and well-known, or even our own convoluted thoughts and dreams about the Indian rock music industry. The very motive behind the existence of The Underground is to promote, nurture and further this thriving movement that we all connect to and believe in.
