THORI, an association of grass-root artisans registered under SOCIETY ACT 1958, experiments with design ideologies and tactics through its different domains termed as Rural Industries, to analyse and channelise handcrafted products as per the market need. To bring all the pieces together for the creation of an exemplary of value-chain model, there is a dire need of experimentation (new technologies, prototypes, sustainable design approach) and equipments (machinery, tools, infrastructure), which will provide a concrete structure to mass production and channelisation of the same to a global audience and THORI targets all of them for the betterment of rural communities.The mission of THORI is to develop and train artisans for a global supply chain, to promote rural craft to address problems of migration and under-employment, to support ongoing interventions that perpetuate and honour the culture and craft of the regions. THORI works within and to successfully elevate grassroots leadership positions in a viable cottage industry structure.Skills and knowledge are the driving forces of growth and social development of any country. The economy becomes more productive, innovative and competitive through the existence of more skilful human potential. Rural artisans are the most vibrant and dynamic segment as well as potentially most vulnerable human resource. Through this initiative, the importance of skill building for underprivileged, marginalized groups of artisans has been addressed, as it is a powerful weapon against poverty, hunger and rural development and empowerment.THORI is more than rejoiced and enthralled to collaborate with Amazon Karigar programme, as this will be an outstanding opportunity for our artisans. We are in the process of designing an adaptive e-Commerce operations system that will be run and handled by rural artisan itself. So, if artisan are unable to come to work then work has to go to our artisans to create social harmony.
