Threading Change is an ethical fashion organization aimed at education, advocacy, and uplifting marginalized voices in the fashion industry through research, story-telling, and collaboration. We envision a future where fashion is circular, rooted in justice with climate, gender, and racial equity at the forefront. We do this in three ways:1. Education and AwarenessThrough our "Textile Talks" series, we help raise awareness and bring together experts and community members in the fashion supply chain, policy, design, entrepreneurial space and more every month. We provide a safe space to discuss and ideate via policy jams on ways in which we can transition to more ethical fashion choices—At the consumer and industry level, both locally in British Columbia, and internationally.2. SDG Synergy MapNot many industries have connections to almost all the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, but the fashion industry does. Through our SDG Research Ambassadors program, we're creating a network of passionate fashion scholars who are working at the intersection of knowledge and equity, through a collaborative and transformative lens.3. Policy Implementation and AdvocacyIn addition to consumers making better purchasing choices, there also needs to be policy interventions to avoid the insane amount of clothing and textiles heading into landfills. Threading Change works to advocate for policy implementations at the local, provincial, and international level to help with clothing waste diversion, and better upcycling of textiles.
