TimeMaps products use a combination of timelines, maps, and encyclopaedia entries working together to create both authoritative content and an enjoyable user experience. The result is a set of unique interactive guides through history, stopping at each and every civilization, empire and country along the way, backed up by a growing range of advanced products that concentrate on specific historical chapters. We have 2 product ranges: The Free on-line TimeMap of World History (www.timemaps.com), and Topic TimeMaps (www.shop.timemaps.com).TimeMaps materials are designed to be accessible for anyone interested in history; they also support teachers of history and their students with a large compliment of lesson plans, ideas, and questions that engage users with the information. We take great care to ensure that our work is of the highest quality, based on sound academic research. We seek to communicate history in such a way that we can be as useful to a historian looking for a background on a topic, as for a student searching for a particular, specific piece of information. The project is spearheaded by a father and son team, Peter and Jonny Britton, who, from their base in Durham (north-east England) co-chair a Creative Board comprising history teachers, members of the British Historical Association, and multimedia professionals.
