Philanthropy - Perrysburg, Ohio, United States
The Toledo YES Project is a unique opportunity for high school students and young adults from the Toledo area to come together to do as Jesus did: love and serve those who are most in need. Each year, the summer project consists of between 120 - 150 youth and nearly 70 adult volunteers coming together for four days and doing Christian service in and around Toledo, Ohio. We have as many as 15 sites throughout the greater Toledo area where we will scrape, paint, clean, landscape, and perform other tasks that may be needed to improve the living situation of those we are helping. The ultimate goal is to spread the love of Christ and His message of hope to those who need it most. Each spring and fall we also host one-day Days of Service, which are like mini-summer projects. These are opportunities for high schoolers to complete service during the school year. Most of our work consists of helping private homeowners who are physically and/or financially unable to maintain or improve their homes. We also help at various non-profit groups, including women's shelters, family shelters, community centers, churches and homeless outreach facilities.
