TRADESCHOOL MANILA is a non-traditional, independent learning community where students barter with teachers in exchange for instruction.TRADE SCHOOL MANILA is the first Philippine chapter of the community and movement that is Trade School New York. For our logo, you see a stylized vinta, an icon of Zamboanga - a province of the Philippines where a bustling barter market still operates today. It represents our advocacy for continuous learning in the Philippine setting and in supporting this, we value practical skills, experiential knowledge and the fact that everyone can learn something new everyday and anyone can be a teacher. The big idea is to transform static areas into dynamic learning spaces where professionals and practitioners can teach and discuss topics with a scope of just about anything under the sun. Money is not an object, but it's no free lunch. Students exchange items from the teachers' barter list for new learning and fresh experience.TRADESCHOOL MANILA is modeled after the blueprint of Trade School in New York."TRADE SCHOOL: Where ideas is currency." --The New York Times
