Travel Zipo is a local experience company providing authentic urban and rural African experiences hosted by individuals based in the community. We see ourselves as a social enterprise with a moral obligation to empower those that, for whatever reason, have struggled to gain a foothold in society. We do not believe in labels or stereotypes and appreciate each individual and their unique potential: a fact that is reflected in our operations and one which we hold dearly in our hearts.Travel Zipo's mission focuses on training people that have been affected by homelessness or have been socially and economically disadvantaged to become walking tour guides within their own city, offering these alternative tours to tourists and locals in a detailed and eye-opening way. In doing so, our company seeks to improve the lives of our tour operators by enabling them to achieve economic independence.At Travel Zipo, our training focuses on confidence building, public speaking and customer service. Our intention is to partner with professional tour companies such that, over time, our guides might be absorbed as professionals into the tourist industry. We try our best to ensure that we teach and coach each of our talented guides to handle clients and acquire the experience needed to become professional service providers. Our tour guides have observed their living environments – be it famous landmarks, natural wonders or social enterprises – from a singular perspective. It is this unique angle of our approach that defines our ultimate strength.
