Individual & Family Services - Detroit, Michigan, United States
Travelers Aid Society of Metropolitan Detroit provides housing and resources for individuals and families who are socially and economically challenged. We use our vast network of resources along with innovative solutions to help clients obtain and maintain permanent housing.Formed in 1923 by the League of Catholic Women, the organization is an internationally affiliated 501c3 human services non-profit that began as a resource for immigrants, women and travelers who were desperately in need of support. Since that time, Travelers Aid has evolved to respond to the needs of the community. Today, it's charitable mission continues by providing transitional and permanent supportive housing and resources to Detroit's homeless population. We stabilize homeless individuals and families and empower them to become self-sufficient contributing members of society by applying a comprehensive, holistic case management approach. As part of our service delivery, we manage several housing programs designed to decrease homelessness among those suffering from mental illness and chronic chemical dependency.
