Trelis is a new and innovative charity (registration pending) created by, and working in partnership with, the Goscombe Group of companies; to create opportunities for local people, across Sussex, experiencing disadvantage, worklessness, and social injustice. We, and Goscombe, believe that housing affordability is integral to the welfare of both our communities and society so, using business as a force for good, Goscombe aims to fuel significant social impact through innovations in homebuilding. For every home that Goscombe produce and sell affordably, the profit from that sale allows them to build a second home, effectively at zero cost. Goscombe retains each of those second homes, leasing them (again affordably) to Local Authorities for use as social housing, or renting them directly to local low-income families. It's that income, redistributed, that will fuel Trelis to deliver powerful social impact. Simply put, the more homes Goscombe create, sell, and lease the more ‘good' Trelis will be able to do. At Trelis we create supported opportunities for individual and community growth. We use our resources to enable people, and their communities, to grow in the key areas of: people - whole-person wellbeing homes - housing affordability and rootednesswork - education, training, and employment community - cohesion and strengthWhere people are secure in their home, motivated by their work, and invested in their community we all benefit - this ideal is the basic fabric of a healthy society. We are pragmatic and so whilst we campaign for change and justice in these areas we primarily create the opportunities for people to access the advice, support, education, training, and employment they need to move out of disadvantage. We are Trelis.
