Education Management - Durham, North Carolina, United States
Triangle Model United Nations Conference, is a non-profit organization dedicated to involving a diverse group of students in solving the world's problems. Model United Nations provides a professional simulation of the United Nations in order to get students to critically think, problem solve, and collaborate on the worlds most pressing issues. Founded by Kaori Lopez in 2012 TRIMUNC has grown each year to include middle schools throughout North Carolina. A group of dedicated highschool and college students, mentored by Kaori, serve as the secretariat and conference organizers. Kaori moved back to New Mexico last year, but still helps plan the conference along with her teaching and other responsibilities. Her former students Elise Ashkin-Baker and Sumana Goli, are now Co-Directors of the organization. Both Elise and Sumana joined Model UN with Kaori while in Middle School and were a part of the creation of TRIMUNC. Now, as college students, they look forward to continuing TRIMUNC's legacy.
