Trinity Glen Rose Groundwater Conservation District Details
The Trinity Glen Rose Groundwater Conservation District (TGR) was created by the Texas Legislature in 2001 and confirmed by voters in 2002. The creation of the District resulted from the designation of the Trinity Groups of Aquifers underlying Bexar County as a Priority Groundwater Management Area (PGMA) by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. A PGMA is an area designated by the State of Texas that is experiencing, or is expected to experience surface or groundwater water issues within 50 years. The TGR is made up of five separate districts extending across northern Bexar County. TGR goals include: • Implement strategies to achieve efficient use of groundwater. • Control and prevent water waste. • Address natural resource issues that affect the use and availability of groundwater. • Address drought conditions. • Address conservation, recharge, enhancement, rainwater harvesting, and brush control. • Monitor aquifer levels via network of monitoring wells. • Increase public understanding of groundwater resources. • Participate in long-term regional planning focusing on aquifer sustainability.
