In 1985 Trinidad and Tobago lost one of the greatest entrepreneurs, Ram Kirpalani. Indeed, Mr. Kirpalani was one of the most astute post-independence business people in this country. Unfortunately he lost his life in a motor vehicle accident. This was a tragedy that blossomed into a rare opportunity. One of Mr. Kirpalani's companies, Trinidad Chemicals (TrinChem) was sold to a Canadian citizen by the name of Derek Zegarchuk. He renamed the company Trinidad Hydrojet Services Ltd and approached a family friend, David Edwards, an accountant by profession, to invest as a full partner in the company. Six years later in 1991 Mr. Zegarchuk sold out and returned to Canada. The present CFO and primary shareholder, Mr. Edwards renamed the new company, Trinjet Services Ltd. The company based in Trinidad now has expanded its operations to Ghana in West Africa.
