Founded in Brighton, UK in 1999 by Robert Luis and later joined by Paul Jonas, Tru Thoughts has established an international reputation for releasing a wide variety of high quality music in its nineteen plus years of running. Since the acclaimed first album release of Bonobo's debut ‘Animal Magic', the label has put out over two hundred LPs, across genres from electronic, funk, soul and hip hop to jazz, tropical, grime and more. Over the years, Tru Thoughts' eclectic roster has included names such as Quantic, Alice Russell, The Bamboos, Rodney P, Hidden Orchestra, Riz MC, Zed Bias, Anchorsong, Moonchild and the Grammy-nominated Hot 8 Brass Band; with acts hailing from Australia, UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, Japan and Colombia. Tru Thoughts continues to run from Brighton with a sister office in L.A. together with its publishing company Full Thought Publishing, which has seen its music used in major advertising campaigns, movies and TV shows.Recent prominent artist successes include the release of Moonchild's critically acclaimed third album ‘Voyager' as well as the band being named Jazz FM's Soul Act Of The Year 2018; Hot 8 Brass Band's twice sold out shows at London's Roundhouse (2017 and 2019); and Anchorsong's ‘Ceremonial' placing at #5 in BBC 6Music's Album Of The Year 2016 list and ‘Cohesion' being named Album Of The Day in 2018.
