Semiconductors - Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya
Solar E-Cycles Kenya is an organization heavily founded on the pursuit of social impact across Africa through the adoption of sustainable transport practice. Since inception in 2015, our organization continues to develop technical capacity through the design and development of solar-powered tricycles as well as testing their feasibility across various countries; South Africa, Madagascar and Morocco. In late 2018, we achieved two major milestones; winning the 2018 Valeo Innovation Challenge out of 1,740 teams from 107 countries and 676 universities and schools that signed up to compete. Secondly, our solar e-cycle was tested through a 619 km journey from Nairobi to Mombasa as part of the Suntrek. This test intended to explore the tricycle's functionality, not just as a method of transportation but a mobile decentralized power plant. Our latest production run involved the development of seven tricycles. We're currently testing these tricycles around Nairobi and using feedback to inform future technical development and market entry strategy. For 2020, we're looking to expand our operations to rural areas; exploring mobility and energy needs in last mile areas. Solar E-Cycles Kenya is resolute on its vision to empower power through increasing access to sustainable mobility and clean energy. To this end, we always welcome engagement with persons and organisations that share our vision and ethos.
