At TSB, our purpose is about growing the future. We are inspired to lead, be responsible and above all, to care. We aim to create long term shared value for our people, our planet and our business. TSB Sugar which was founded in 1965 is one of the largest sugar producers in South Africa, producing over 30% of South Africa's total sugar output, and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Remgro, which is listed on the JSE. TSB head office is strategically positioned in the Mpumalanga lowveld, with its primary mill and head office at Malalane. It also has a mill at Komatipoort, rated as the most modern sugar factory in South Africa. It acquired the Pongola Mill in KwaZulu-Natal in 2009. The company employs about 4 700 people and provides support to more than 1 400 commercial and small-scale cane farmers who operate on 47 000 hectares of irrigated land. The company has its own packaging plant, transport fleet, and markets its sugar under the Selati name through its subsidiary, Quality Sugars. The company also produces and markets animal feeds, under the Molatek name, using molasses and bagasse produced at the Malalane Mill to provide material to the adjacent Molatek plant. The feed range consists of advanced concentrates, licks and energy rations for beef and dairy cattle, sheep, goats, horses and ostriches. TSB Sugar International (Pty) Ltd, TSB's investment holding company, provides support services and technical advice to the sugar industry.
