It became a major in late 1980s. In 2010, Chinese Ministry of Education set up the professional master degree program of engineering management to meet the great and urgent needs of talents in the development of modern engineering. In 2012，first 70 students were admitted to the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program of Tsinghua University, and the number of enrollment is growing year by year. In 2015, the MEM Education Center, which is in charge of the management and operation of the program, was set up; and in 2016, the Center starts up the international MEM program (iMEM).The Master of Engineering Management (MEM) is designed for those who want to become managers, leaders and innovators in technology-based enterprises. It provides a multidisciplinary education that integrates engineering, management, business and IT with analytical tools and techniques to expand participants' vision and provide them with the means to improve internal and external operations as well as the ideas, processes and technologies used by engineering management.
