Civic & Social Organization - London, England, United Kingdom
In September we are driving from London to Istanbul in an Indian tuktuk in aid of the epilepsy charity SUDEP Action! We'll be traveling over 6000km, through 21 countries in memory of Emily Sumaria, our incredible sister and daughter who died at university, aged 19. Emily died from Sudden Unexpected Death in EPilepsy (SUDEP), known in the UK as a "silent killer". Our mission is three-fold:*Open the conversation about epilepsy*Raise awareness of SUDEP *Raise £42,000 for the charity SUDEP Action Why a tuktuk? Emily was half Indian so we're paying tribute to her roots. Why 21 countries? 21 people die from epilepsy every week in the UK. There are over 600,000 people in the UK with epilepsy and all of them are at risk of SUDEP however severe or infrequent their seizures are. Despite this, SUDEP is severely under researched. SUDEP Action funds groundbreaking research is absolutely vital if we're to reduce the number of epilepsy deaths occurring each week. Aside from funding research, the charity is also the only charity dedicated to supporting those bereaved by epilepsy, they lobby the government and also spread awareness of SUDEP. WE NEED YOU - any support you can give would be HUGELY appreciated and details on how you can help are below! *******1.
