Established in 1984 by Paul Ralfs, the Tumour Foundation of BC is a charitable organization that has been supporting individuals affected with neurofibromatosis (NF), and their families since 1984.We offer a variety of services to our community which include:1- one-to-one support2- NF Support Line3- NF Virtual Clinic started Oct 20214- annual conference5- quality educational resources6- the INSPIRE! magazine7- educational scholarships8- community awareness9- Family fund grant10- supporting research to improve treatment options, and more.The mission of the Tumour Foundation of BC is to improve the lives of those affected by neurofibromatosis.Neurofibromatosis is pronounced neuro-fibroma-tosis and is commonly referred to as NF. NF causes tumours to grow on nerves throughout the body. The term NF represents three distinct disorders:Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) The most common genetic disorder affecting approximately one in 3,000.Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) A less common form, affecting approximately one in 25,000.Schwannomatosis Appears to be the least occurring form, affecting approximately one in 40,000 individuals.
