The Tuolumne River Trust (TRT) is the voice for the river. Since 1981, we have been successfully working to ensure a healthy river that is teeming with fish and wildlife; safe for drinking, fishing, and swimming; and held in trust as a refuge for future generations. We promote stewardship of the river through education, community outreach, and adventures; collaboration with a diverse array of stakeholders; on-the-ground restoration projects; and advocacy and grassroots organizing.Flowing out of Yosemite National Park, the Tuolumne River is a national treasure offering outdoor recreation opportunities, habitat for plants and animals, drinking water for 2.5 million people in the San Francisco Bay Area, and irrigation water for farmers in Stanislaus County. The river descends 162 miles through the Sierra foothills and Central Valley before joining the San Joaquin River and flowing north to the San Francisco Bay.With offices in San Francisco, Modesto, and Sonora, a staff of 10, board of directors of 14, and a large, active volunteer network, TRT has put down roots in communities from the Sierra Nevada to the Bay Area and is building the capacity we need to achieve our vision. We have earned the respect of people from all sides of the political spectrum because of our successful track record organizing and participating in collaborative efforts that produce workable solutions for the River.
