Turnip was an iPhone app for parties. One could use Turnip's map to enable discovery of private parties happening in any Los Angeles neighborhood. A user could read the party profile and, if they liked what they saw, send a request for the address. The host would then see the profile and party resume to decide whether to accept the requester to the party. And that's it! You may not have known the people throwing the party -- but that's the point. It was about spontaneity, a connection between neighbors that happened to not know each other. The euphoria of spontaneous partying reminds us of the dynamics of friendship - that our school or hobby has determined our social circle. Turnip empowered us to make new friends in a fun way.
