The Story "Tutoring, to be effective and efficient, has to be done correctly." Tutor A Team was established by me, Jim Waldman after 35 years in educational administration and talking to hundreds of school teachers and many parents of children/young adults from all grade levels and even those in community colleges and above. The common denominator in these conversations is that the "right" tutor can be a life saver for a student with an academic problem. Conversely the wrong approach can be expensive and may not get the desired results-and there may only be a small window of time to get it right! In my survey, and as my three children were in need of tutoring, the question always came up as to how we find the "right" tutor. Tutoring is expensive but it is absolutely necessary. The concerned parent understands that the student's future depends on what happens in his/her school years and, if the approach works, then the money is well spent. At this point I would also note that tutoring is not only for the student that is behind in his studies. Many parents request tutoring for their "A or B" students that want to exceed expectations, pass the SAT's with a high score and be positioned for a college scholarship to a top rated college or university. The vast majority of teachers and parents that were part of the discussion agree that the best and most accommodating method to provide tutoring to a student is on a one-on-one basis at the kitchen table! The Tutor A Team approach establishes the fact that the best possible outcome depends on the "Team" approach which includes three parties.
