Twenty-First Century African Youth Movement Details

Twenty First Century African Youth Movement (AYM) empowers and mobilizes Africa's youth through employment in agriculture, eco-tourism, entrepreneurship, and the arts. It is currently tackling Sierra Leone's post-civil war youth unemployment challenge by developing the talent and skills of 15-35 years old to create self-sufficiency, economic stability, community prosperity and social progress to establish long-term peace. AYM plans to expand its country-level support in Liberia, Ghana, and Gambia by the end of 2014.Mobilizing Africa's unemployed and underemployed youth is the key to the continent's economic growth and stability. AYM works to mobilize marginalized youth through education, training, and employment and creates entrepreneurial opportunities to help move communities away from poverty, disease, and hunger. AYM aims to establish personal empowerment and community resilience by energizing the continent's youth population, its most critical resource in the reversal of social and economic stagnation. Our mission is to educate and employ youth in agribusiness, ecotourism, green technology, and the creative arts to energize the continent's youth to promote food security, health, literacy, infrastructure, as well as social and political stability. AYM plans to expand to Liberia, Gambia and Ghana to continue make a positive change in the lives of African youth through employment opportunities. How we work AYM puts youths on the path to self-sufficiency, economic productivity, while fostering community resilience. We engage youth as social change makers and a positive force in the rebuilding and development of war-torn Sierra Leone and throughout Africa. We are currently working in the Jong Chiefdom, Bonthe District partnering with youth to build progressive local community-driven programs including vegetable gardens, solar powered electricity, ecotourism, volunteerism and more.
