UBC Fashion Week is a burgeoning organization aiming to create a multicultural, sustainable, and creative community through fashion interests.Three Days, A Unified Purpose: To promote multiculturalism through grassroots designs to help establish a cohesive multicultural community, and provide inspiration and opportunities to those who want to shape the future landscape of Canadian fashion through social empowerment and youth innovation.UBC University Fashion Week is a social enterprise that encompasses a three day event focusing on promoting grassroots designers, community expression, social awareness, and development of entrepreneurial skills in the fashion industry within the greater Canadian landscape. These three days provide opportunities for students to ask questions about brands, connect, and network with creatives in their community, while utilizing the platform of fashion as a means of empowerment and addressing social issues. The first day features a designer panel and network session, the second day a social advocacy panel, and the third a runway fashion show.As UBC was recognized as North America's most international university, we wish to celebrate this achievement by ensuring that this fact is not just a statistic, but rather an integral element of our campus community. By collaborating with a wide variety of clubs and student initiatives on campus, engaging with UBC's arts and culture scene, and capitalizing on the visionary and innovative academic ideas growing on campus, we hope to make this event thought-provoking, educational, and celebratory. As this is UBC University Fashion Week's first season we strive to make this year's event the spark that ignites the flame that will make UBC University Fashion Week a tradition at UBC, and serve as a time capsule for future generations in our community interested in experiencing a shift in cultural expression over time.
