UCD Internet Society—more affectionately known as Netsoc—is UCD's Internet & Computer Science society. Netsoc was established in 1995 with the mission of making internet access available to the students of UCD. With the advancements in technology, Netsoc now serves as a forum for computer science and tech-interested students to network, learn, and socialize.Presently, Netsoc is run by twelve earnest computer science students from stages one to four. For the entirety of the year, we volunteer our time to perform administrative duties, run events, and attend meetings and training sessions. UCD Netsoc has grown to become one of the largest collegiate computer science societies in Ireland with over 400 members. We regularly run talks from leading technology companies such as Microsoft and Amazon. We provide opportunities for students to learn new skills and to showcase their ability in regional and international coding competitions. Members can also avail of free server access so that they can host their own websites, do remote complex computation and run their own web services. In 2019, UCD Societies awarded us Small Society of the Year. In 2020, UCD Societies awarded us Event of the Year for our tech conference 'SISTEM 2020'.
