The IEEE Student Branch at UFRGS (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul) has the essential objective of bringing the benefits of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers to the university.The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or IEEE is a professional non-profit organization, founded in the United States. It is the largest (in number of members) professional organization in the world, formed in 1963 by the merger of IRE and AIEE. Its goal is to promote knowledge in the field of electrical, electronic and computer engineering.The Branch is considered a sector within the IEEE organization that is not for profit, being subordinated to the Student Section. The Branch is made up of undergraduate as well as graduate students, who form a board, under the guidance of professors at the University.
