Uganda National Association of the Deaf (UNAD) is a Non Government and Voluntary Organization bringing together all categories of Deaf persons in Uganda. Formed in 1973, UNAD is a national umbrella organization for all grass root associations of Deaf persons in Uganda. UNAD is consulted by the government and NGOs on matters concerning Deaf persons and Deafness. UNAD is affiliated to the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) which has a consultative status with the UN. To achieve its vision, UNAD with support from various development partners carries out a number of program activities that include: Sign language research and development; Lobbying and advocacy to ensure inclusiveness; Capacity building and organizational strengthening, Mobilization and sensitization; Networking and Collaboration.
