The Mbale Schools Band and centre of performing arts is run by the UK charity ugive2uganda - founded in 2008 by Philip Monk. The mission of the charity is to help some of the world's poorest people and developing youth through music. The band is the flagship of the project. Many studies throughout the world have concluded that teaching a child to read music improves their academic skills in other subjects and we have very many children in the band who are testimony to this. Through the band we have helped many kids out of poverty. Through the hard work of the members of the band we have attracted a worldwide support with a few of our performances gaining over 2 million hits.We have three parts to the charity, Humanitarian Work, Child Sponsorship and of course the Mbale Schools Band
